The obituary for Margaret Elizabeth Andrews appeared on 5 December 2020 Montreal Gazette and The Globe and Mail . Margaret Elizabeth Rennie passed away peacefully at the age of 93 on November 25, 2020 at Bridlewood Trails Retirement Community in Ottawa.
Margaret is survived by her children Marilyn (Ross Orr), Robert (Laura), son-in-law Gary (Muriel), grandchildren; Stewart, Christopher,Meredith, Jessica, Jaclyn, Robyn, Brian, Catherina, Alison, Sister-Phyllis Wren and many nieces and nephews.
Margaret was predeceased by her loving husband of 60 yrs, Robert M. Rennie, and her beloved daughter Corinne(Butler).
Born in Montreal Quebec, Margaret grew up in NDG, lived in Dorval and Pointe Claire for over 50 years before moving to Ottawa in 2007. Margaret was an avid golfer and a member of many clubs in Montreal and Sarasota, FL. She enjoyed curling, bridge and loved hosting dinner for family and friends. Over the years, she and Bob travelled the world and left few sights unseen. She will be remembered for her wit, humour, and devotion to her family. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend.
Due to Covid 19; a family ceremony will be held at a later date.
In memory of Margaret, a donation to the Salvation Army or the Eldercare Foundation of Ottawa would be greatly appreciated.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Bridlewood Trails for their wonderful care and compassion.

Bob was born in Montreal and attended West Hill H.S. and McGill University where he became a Chartered Accountant. He spent his career with Touche Ross (Deloitte Touche) where he was a partner for 33 years and he served as Chair of the Canadian Firm from 1975 to 1986 and as Chairman of the Board of Governors of Touche Ross International. Bob retired in 1990 and was elected Chairman of the Board of Canadian Insurance Group Limited, and in this capacity became director of several public and private companies. He was also the Chairman of the Accounting and Auditing Research Committee of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants, Chairman of the Accountants International Study Group and was a founding member of the Canadian Comprehensive Auditing Foundation. Bob was very active in charitable and community organizations and particularly enjoyed his work with the Salvation Army. He was awarded the Queen's Silver Anniversary Medal in 1977. Bob travelled for business and pleasure and was an avid reader and golfer. He was a member of many clubs; Summerlea Golf & Country Club, QC (President 1966), Mount Bruno Country Club, QC, Amberwood Village Golf & Country Club, ON, The Meadows Golf Club, FL, The Mount Royal Club (Chairman 1989), The Saint James's Club, QC, The Forest and Stream Club, QC, the Pointe Claire Curling Club, QC, and the Montreal Amateur Athletic Association, QC. Cremation and a private family interment are planned. A Celebration of Robert Rennie's life will be held on Friday, May 10th from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the Amberwood Village Golf & Country Club in Stittsville, ON. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses in emergency and the ICU at Queensway Carleton Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Salvation Army would be appreciated. Hello Brian, i've seen your tree (and web page) and thought i would drop you a line re Sarah West who i believe, looking at all the evidence, is the sister of my Gt Gt Gt Gt Gt Grandfather William West (or looking at it another way the daughter of my 6 x Grandparents Joseph West and Alice Kearley.) The paper evidence seems to point that way and also i have an ancestry DNA match to someone who indicates that they are descended from Lousia Blandford ( daughter of Daniel ). You may well have worked this out already but it looks like Sarah West died in Wimborne in 1851. As she was on her own it could be that she spent her last days in Wimborne workhouse - i could't think of any other reason why she would have moved to Wimborne.
