To Brian Turnbull... My name is Patricia Kirby; I am a Granddaughter of Alexander Wellington Croskery, and live in Lower Hutt, New Zealand. I recall my Grandfather having a cousin who came to NZ from Ireland, her name had been Winifred Croskery and on 18 April 1911 she had married one Charles Gordon Acheson in Ireland. After coming to NZ they lived in New Plymouth; which is on the west coast of the North Island. They had a son Charles Horatio Acheson, BEM who was a returned serviceman from WW2. Winifred died on 17 August 1967 at the Public Hospital in New Plymouth. Husband Charles died 28 August, 1969 and their son passed on 29 June, 1968. I could not see any mention of this on Winifred's page and didn't know if you knew this..
There was also another chap who came to stay after WW2 but he used to hit the bottle a bit and had a few arguments with Granddad, he was a butcher. From memory his name was Horatio Collingwood Croskery LAW. But he went by the name of Collie LAW.
He was some sort of cousin too. After falling out he moved to Napier and I have no idea what happened to him after that.. He was a bachelor.. that is unmarried.Well I'll say cheerio and go have my dinner. Bye for now.
