Anecdote | On 4 February 1904, in Old Perlican, Newfoundland. Mon. Feb. 4, 1901, ARTICLE: FATAL ACCIDENT We learn from Old Perlican that a young man, named Hayward BURSEY, of that place, met with a fatal accident one day last week. He was shooting and fell over a cliff. Being alone he was not missed until late, when a search party went out. His dog was found next day where he had fallen over and the body was discovered in the sea under the cliff.
Debbie Gerow responded to the Newfoundland list: I was told a while ago that Hayward had died young in 1901 and he had drown. I told a cousin of mine about the article and he said that Hayward was not alone on that cliff there was someone else with him .... a cousin Jack Bursey but it was not known if Hayward fell or was pushed. The rumor was, he was pushed but I guess that will always be a mystery.2 |
